Schweitzer Named Collegiate Baseball Newspaper All-American

TUCSON, Ariz. – Collegiate Baseball Newspaper announced its annual NCAA Division I All-American teams on Thursday. Ball State baseball was represented by Tyler Schweitzer who earned a second-team honor after a phenomenal year on the mound for the Cardinals.
After being named the MAC Pitcher of the Year and earning a spot on the All-MAC First Team, Schweitzer earned a Collegiate Baseball Second Team All-American honor. He was a three-time MAC Pitcher of the Week honoree throughout the season. He finished the year with an 11-2 record. His 11 wins is tied for the most in the NCAA this year and are tied for the third most in a single season in Ball State history. He recorded 122 strikeouts on the season, which is tied for 22nd in the NCAA and was third in the MAC. He finished third in the MAC with an ERA of 2.65 and led the conference with 91 2/3 innings of work. He held opponents to a .205 batting average for the course of the season.
Schweitzer is the seventh Cardinal to earn a Collegiate Baseball All-American nod and the first since John Baker last season.
