Schweitzer Named ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association announced its annual NCAA DI All-Region Teams on Wednesday. Tyler Schweitzer represented the Ball State baseball team with a first team all-region nod after a spectacular season for the Cardinals.
After being named the MAC Pitcher of the Year, earning a spot on the All-MAC First Team, and a Collegiate Baseball Second Team All-American honor, Schweitzer achieved an ABCA Midwest All-Region First Team accolade. He was a three-time MAC Pitcher of the Week honoree throughout the season. He finished the year with an 11-2 record. His 11 wins is tied for the most in the NCAA this year and are tied for the third most in a single season in Ball State history. He recorded 122 strikeouts on the season, which is tied for 22nd in the NCAA and was third in the MAC. He finished third in the MAC with an ERA of 2.65 and led the conference with 91 2/3 innings of work. He held opponents to a .205 batting average for the course of the season.
Schweitzer is the 24th Cardinal to earn an ABCA/Rawlings Midwest All-Region first team nod.
