Hensley Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

MUNCIE, Ind. - - One day after being named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, Ball State softball senior left fielder Faith Hensley picked up another honor as she was named to the Academic All-District Softball Team as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Hensley was recognized on the All-District First Team for her combined performances on the field and in the classroom. First team honorees from all eight districts now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Ball State is in District 5 which includes schools from the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.

A two-time First Team All-MAC honoree, Hensley led the Ball State offense with a .404 batting average this season. The mark currently ranks third in the MAC and 53rd among all NCAA Division I players. She has reached base safely in 48 of the 52 games she has played, including via a hit in 39 contests.

Hensley also leads the MAC in walks (37) and on base percentage (.533), while ranking among the top five in the league in: home runs (17, second), slugging percentage (.814, second), hits (63, second), triples (3, third), runs scored (51, third) and RBIs (40, fifth).

A 2021 NFCA All-Great Lakes Region First Team selection, Hensley finished the 2022 season ranked first in program history with a .499 career on base percentage. She is also second on BSU's all-time charts in batting average (.389) and third in slugging percentage (.720).Â

Over 332 career at bats, Hensley has 129 total hits, including 25 home runs, 25 doubles and five triples. She has also drawn 63 walks and been hit by a pitch 11 times, while driving in 97 career RBIs and scoring 97 career runs.

Hensley is slated to return to the Ball State softball program for the 2023 season, utilizing her COVID-19 year of eligibility as granted by the NCAA.
