Nathan Snyder, Karlie Zumbro awarded MAC Medal of Excellence

Representatives from Ball State football and track and field given prestigious honor from league office
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ball State football's Nathan Snyder and track and field's Karlie Zumbro were named Mid-American Conference Medal of Excellence recipients for the 2021-22 academic year. The Medal of Excellence is an award presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each of the league's 12 member institutions.
To be honored with the Medal of Excellence Award, student-athletes had to participate on the varsity level in a Conference sponsored sport and shown evidence of academic success with a minimum 3.50 accumulative grade-point average, exhibited athletics excellence, leadership and service. Selection of the recipients was made by each MAC institution.
Snyder graduated in the fall with a 3.625 GPA while pursuing a master's in business administration. While also a member of the Dean's list, the Marysville, Ohio native was also a multi-year Academic All-MAC selection. Snyder was a two-time All-MAC performer, including earning first-team honors as a senior. He finished third in Ball State history with. a 41.1 career punting average. Off the field, Snyder was a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative and took part in Gainbridge professional development sessions.
Zumbro maintained a 3.849 GPA while in pursuit of a degree in exercise science. The Zanesville, Ohio native was named the MAC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete and was a multi-year member of the Academic All-MAC team, in addition to being named to the Dean's list. Zumbro won the heptathlon at the MAC Outdoor Championship last season and will aim to defend her crown this weekend at the annual meet. She volunteers locally for various events in the community and has also taken part in Gainbridge professional development sessions.
