Ball State-Tennessee season opener moved to Thursday night on national TV

Season opener set for Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network
MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State's 2022 campaign is kicking off two days sooner than previously announced as the Cardinals' season opener has been moved to primetime Thursday night, ESPN and the Southeastern Conference announced Thursday.
Ball State is set to take on Tennessee in Knoxville Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
The meeting on Rocky Top is slated to be the first in series history. The Cardinals have played against members of the currently constructed SEC 10 times in program history with the latest being a trip to Texas A&M on Sept. 12, 2015.
Ball State is coming off back-to-back bowl appearances for the third time in program history. In addition, the Cardinals boast the most wins by any team in the Mid-American Conference over the last two seasons with 13.
