Ruthberg Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - After winning the all-around in last Sunday's meet at West Virginia, Ball State sophomore gymnast Hannah Ruthberg has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week.

Ruthberg, who was also the individual floor champion at WVU, took the all-around title with a career-best score of 39.325. It's the third-highest all-around total in program history.

Ruthberg's point breakdown included a career-high tying 9.900 on floor, a career-high tying 9.850 on beam, a 9.825 on vault and a 9.750 on bars.

After Sunday's performance, Ruthberg owns five of the top 18 all-around scores in program history, with four of the marks coming this season. Her 39.275 at Western Michigan (Jan. 16) is fifth all-time, her 39.200 in the program record setting dual win over EMU (Feb. 20) is 11th, and her 39.175 at Utah State with Southern Utah (Feb. 4) is 12th.

In addition, Ruthberg's 9.900 on floor at West Virginia is tied as the 19th-best routine in program history.

Ruthberg and the rest of the Ball State gymnastics program closes the 2022 regular season Friday, when it travels to Central Michigan for a 7 p.m. league matchup. The CMU dual will serve as the final tune-up for the MAC Championships which take place March 19 at Eastern Michigan.
