Becki and Agustsdottir Receive Postseason All-MAC Accolades
March 08, 2022 | Women's Basketball
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Freshman Ally Becki and senior Thelma Dis Agustsdottir have received postseason All-Mid-American Conference accolades as announced Tuesday (March 8) by the league office. Becki was named Third Team All-MAC and was also tabbed to the MAC All-Freshman Team while Agustsdottir earned All-MAC Honorable Mention.
Becki has started for the Cardinals in every game this season as a true freshman. She scored a personal-best 27 points at Ohio on Feb. 2 and recently dished out a season-high nine assists in a win at Central Michigan (March 2). Becki has reached double figures in scoring for Ball State 14 times this season. Becki made the ESPN top 10 plays after nailing a half-court shot at the buzzer to end intermission against Buffalo on Jan. 26, helping Ball State take the lead over the Bulls at the break, and later the victory. On Feb. 8, Becki earned MAC Player of the Week honors after averaging 21.0 points per game for the Cardinals off 53 percent shooting from the field while dishing out 8.0 assists per contest, helping Ball State extend its win streak to five with wins over Ohio and Bowling Green. She also recorded a double-double at Kent State with 12 points and 12 rebounds on Feb. 12. Currently, Becki averages 10.3 points per game and 5.9 rebounds, and leads the Cardinals in assists with 66.
Agustsdottir became the 30th member of the Cardinals' 1,000-point club and ninth under head coach Brady Sallee in BSU's MAC opener at Bowling Green on Jan. 1. Agustsdottir finds a lot of success behind the are as she ranks first amongst her teammates with 74 made 3-pointers. Agustsdottir knocked down six 3-pointers against Northern Illinois on Feb. 26. She recently scored a season-best 24 points in a victory against Eastern Michigan on March 5 in Worthen Arena. Agustsdottir has 1,200 points for her career, which ranks 18th on the Cardinals all-time scoring list, and ranks fifth all-time in 3-pointers made with 208. Agustsdottir currently leads the Cardinals in scoring, averaging 11.1 points per contest, and stands in third in the MAC in 3-point field goals per game with 2.6.
Under Sallee the Cardinals have now had 30 postseason All-MAC selections.
Ball State opens play in the 2022 MAC Tournament Wednesday as the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 Northern Illinois in the day's second quarterfinal game at Rocket Mortgage Field House. Tipoff is set to begin 30 minutes following game one.
