Cardinals Set to Play Five Matches Including Spring Cup

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State soccer team along with Head Coach Josh Rife announced the 2022 Spring Schedule on Wednesday. The schedule features five matches and a unique opportunity with the Spring Cup.
Ball State opens with a match at Louisville on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. for the first match of the Spring Cup. Louisville finished the 2021 campaign with a 7-7-2 record with a 3-6-1 mark in the ACC. Louisville and Ball State met in an exhibition match in 2021, which Louisville won 2-0.
The second match in the Spring Cup takes place on Saturday, March 26, at 1 p.m. in Dayton, Ohio, with a contest against Dayton. The Flyers finished the 2021 season with a 12-6-2 overall record and an 8-2-0 mark in the A-10.
Ball State is set to take on Grace on Saturday, April 2, in Muncie. Grace won the 2021 NCCAA national championship and finished the year with a 15-7-1 mark and a 6-2-1 record in the Crossroads League.
On Saturday, April 9, Ball State will play a match at Racing Louisville FC's stadium as the final match of the Spring Cup. The Cardinals will play either Cincinnati, Kentucky, or Xavier, based on the team's finish in each pod. The leader of pod one will play the leader of pod two and the same goes for the teams that finish second and third in each pod.
The Cardinals close out the spring schedule with a matchup with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Friday, April 22, in South Bend, Indiana. Notre Dame finished last season with a 14-6-2 overall record and a 7-3-0 ACC record. The Irish made it to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
