Becki’s Double-Double Helps Move Ball State Past In-State Rival IUPUI
December 08, 2022 | Women's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. - Sophomore Ally Becki tallied her first double-double of the season after scoring 20 points along with pulling down a career best 14 rebounds to help Ball State beat in-state rival IUPUI by a score of 61-54 Thursday night in Worthen Arena.
With the win, the Cardinals improved their overall record to 7-2 while the Jaguars fell to 4-5 on the year. Tonight's victory marks the fifth-straight for Ball State.

Behind Becki's double-double, her teammate redshirt senior Anna Clephane would be the only other Cardinal to reach double digit scoring after registering 11 points.
Both teams struggled to get their offensive footing in the first half. Ball State had only made six field goals in the first 20 minutes of play which was unfamiliar territory for the Cardinals. The Jaguars weren't much better from the field but good enough to inch ahead of the Cardinals by a score of 27-25 at intermission.
Becki jump started a 6-0 run for Ball State after the break with help from her teammates, sophomore Alex Richard and graduate senior Thelma Dis Agustsdottir after they both hit back-to-back jumpers. Two trifectas' later from Agustsdottir and Becki, allowed the Cardinals to go ahead of the Jaguars 45-39 at the 3:09 mark in the third quarter.
Following Ball State's offensive burst, both teams went without a field goal for the remainder of the third period and would end up sending one another to the free throw line. Clephane went 2-for-2 from the charity stripe to put Ball State up by seven (47-40) as both teams headed into the final stanza. Ball State also outscored IUPUI 22-13 in the third frame of action.
Despite the Cardinals shooting woes tonight, the back-and-forth battle finally came to an end in the final 10 minutes of play. Ball State couldn't get a lot of their shots to drop but the Cardinals still found a way to earn tonight's victory after leading IUPUI in statistical categories such as points in the paint (28-20), bench points (17-8) and fast break layups (8-4).
The Ball State women's basketball team will play its third game this week on the road at ACC foe Pitt, Sunday, Dec. 11. The game is slated to begin at noon in the Petersen Events Center.
