
Football Places 18 On Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - Eighteen members of the Ball State football program were named to the 2022 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team as announced by the league office on Monday (Dec. 19).

Of the 18 honorees, seven have claimed the award multiple times over their careers, led by five-time selection running back Will Jones.

Inside linebackers Clayton Coll and Cole Pearce, along with defensive lineman Jack Sape are three-time winners. Safety Ben Egenolf, tight end Ryan Lezon, and long snapper Dylan Seiler are all two-time selections.

Ball State's first-time honorees include outside linebacker Jack Beebe, punter Lucas Borrow, tight end Casey Coll, inside linebacker Dalton Elrod, safety Trenton Hatfield, wide receiver Austin Hill, tight end Brady Hunt, offensive lineman Tommy Lorincz, quarterback John Paddock, defensive lineman Nathan Reichert, and offensive lineman Seth Schmidt.

The Cardinals have had 15-or-more Academic All-MAC selections in each of the last five seasons and have had 130 total honorees under head coach Mike Neu.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and any transfer in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
