Charity Griffith named MAC Field Athlete of the Week

High jumper broke indoor program record over the weekend
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ball State track and field's Charity Griffith was named the Mid-American Conference Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Griffith is the first track and field honoree of the season and the first Cardinal to be recognized since Bryeana Byrdsong (Jan. 14, 2020) and the first to be named the field athlete of the week since Kelsey Walters (March 20, 2019).
In her first meet of the season, the Arlington, Ind. native set the Ball State indoor record in the high jump after clearing 6-0 1/2 at the Jim Green Invitational, which broke Regan Lewis' mark of 5-11 1/4, set in 2017.
Griffith's previous-best high jump mark was 5-9 1/4 at the Rocket Invitational during last year's outdoor season (May 15, 2021).
In addition to Griffith's recognition, MaQuila Norman was mentioned as a nominee after setting the 300m record at 39.60, besting Yvonne Ferguson's time of 39.61 (2005).
The Cardinals return to action Jan. 22 for the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.
