Cross Country Takes Second at Butler Twilight

CARMEL, Ind. - The Ball State cross country team opened the 2021 season on a high note as the Cardinals came in second at the Butler Twilight Friday night at the course at Northview Church in Carmel, Ind.

Leading the pack for Ball State across the finish line was Elka Machan who placed fourth among 70 participants with a team high 5K time of 17:30.5.

Following in the 14th spot was Sarah Mahnensmith, who clocked in with a time of 18:19.3.

Rounding out Ball State's five scored runners in Friday's race were Kylee Mastin (18.29.3), Carly Spletzer (18:33.2)  and Jenna Schifferer (18:35.6).

Overall today's run was a success under first-year head coach Adrian Wheatley and graduate assistant Holly Hankenson.

The Cardinals next run is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 17.
