
ST. PETERSBURG SET TO HOST NCAA BASKETBALL EVENT IN THE JERSEY MIKE’S CLASSIC PRESENTED BY VISIT ST PETE/CLEARWATER

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Van Wagner and Superior Sports in a partnership with Visit St. Pete/Clearwater announce the inaugural Jersey Mike's Classic presented by Visit St. Pete/Clearwater. The three-day event will be hosted on the campus of beautiful Eckerd College sitting on the southern tip of St. Pete, nestled on the water between Boca Ciega and Tampa Bay. All games will be played in St. Pete, November 18, 19 and 20, the weekend prior to Thanksgiving Week.
UNC Greensboro, fresh off their conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance where they took ACC Champion Florida State to the wire in the 2nd round, join UMass, Weber State, Ball State, FIU and Wisconsin Green Bay to make up the field for the first year of the Jersey Mike's Classic presented by Visit St. Pete/Clearwater.
St. Petersburg is nicknamed the "Sunshine City" for averaging 361 days of sunshine annually. Sunshine City offers a vibrant mix of tropical weather, arts and culture, shopping, dining, sports and outdoor recreation along a stunning shoreline featuring TripAdvisor's #1 ranked beach in the United States for 2021, St. Pete Beach. St. Pete attracts tourists from across the country and beyond and is excited to continue to welcome sports fans and visitors dating back to the birthplace of spring training for MLB as far back as 1914.

The basketball action tips off Thursday, November 18 with the six-team Jersey Mike's Classic. The field focused strictly on mid-major NCAA programs giving them an opportunity for quality non-conference matchups on a neutral floor in a prime location. The three day field of match-ups are:

We're playing three really good programs, and the format is very similar to what we will have to face in Cleveland at the MAC tournament. An excellent chance for us to get used to playing back-to-back nights, while also competing against really good teams. It should be a great event."
