WCGA Recognizes 12 Gymnasts as Scholastic All-Americans

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - - For their hard work in the classroom, 12 members of the Ball State gymnastics team were honored as Scholastic All-Americans as announced by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).

To earn the award, Sandra Elsadek, Arden Hudson, Marissa Nychyk, Marisol Perez-Banus, Megan Phillips, Hannah Ruthberg, Stefanie Schweikert, Bri Slonim, Kelly Sulek, Megan Teter, Sari Thaler, and Taylor Waldo finished the academic year with a 3.50 GPA or better.

Ball State's 12 honorees were part of a record 1,059 gymnasts who were recognized by the WCGA as Scholastic All-American.

The team's 12 honorees helped Ball State finish the year ranked 37th in the final NCAA national qualifying score (NQS) rankings, missing an NCAA regional berth by just .044. It was the team's highest NQS finish since the 1999 squad ranked 23rd and turned in a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Regionals in Baton Rouge.

Over the course of the 2021 season, the Cardinals topped every league foe in head-to-head competition, and set the program record with a team score of 195.975 at Eastern Michigan (Feb.2). The program also finished the year with a 14-3 record for a program-record .824 winning percentage.
