Ball State Football to Visit Auburn in 2025
May 18, 2021 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State football program has lined up a trip to SEC country as part of its future scheduling. The Cardinals will travel to face the Auburn Tigers for a Sept. 6, 2025 matchup at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Â
Ball State's most recent meeting with an SEC opponent came in 2015 at Texas A&M. The Cardinals and Auburn have squared off three times previously, most recently in 2009.
Â
"This game will provide our football student-athletes a platform to compete on another big stage with a rich intercollegiate sporting experience," said BSU Deputy Athletic Director Haven Fields, an Auburn graduate. "It will enhance our recruiting efforts and create memories that will last a lifetime."
Â
"As an Auburn alum and football letterman, it is exciting to have the opportunity to travel back South to compete against the SEC."
Â
Ball State has momentum building after an historic 2020 season that saw head coach Mike Neu's Cardinals win the program's first MAC championship since 1996 and notch its first-ever bowl victory in the Arizona Bowl. The Cardinals finished the season ranked No. 23 in both the AP and USA Today Coaches polls.
Â
Ball State completed spring practice earlier this month, as the Cardinals prepare for their title defense this fall. BSU will open the 2021 campaign Thursday, Sept. 2 against Western Illinois at Scheumann Stadium and travel to visit Penn State the next week.
