CLEVELAND, Ohio - - Nine student-athletes from the Ball State women's volleyball program were named to the 2020-21 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team as announced by the league office.
Representing the Cardinals on the list were: Cailyn Bolser, Allison Hamaker, Kia Holder, Maggie Huber, Natalie Mitchem, Marie Plitt, Chloe Rickenbach, Natalie Risi and Cathryn Starck.
"I'm very proud of this group for their efforts on the court and in the classroom," head coach Kelli Miller Phillips said. "This past year has presented so much adversity and yet this group remained focused and resilient through it all."
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year players and junior college transfers are not eligible.
Holder earns the honor for the third straight season, while the remainder of Ball State's honorees are first-time winners.
Over her five seasons as head coach, Phillips has helped her student-athletes earn a total of 37 Academic All-MAC selections.
