March 26, 2021 | Women's Swimming and Diving
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – In its final tune-up before the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships, Ball State women's swimming & diving team fought hard against two strong programs in Indiana State and Southern Illinois Friday afternoon.
Senior diver Caitlin Locante and freshman Marcella Ribeiro led the Cardinals (4-4) with two individual victories apiece at ISU's Vigo Country Aquatic Center.
Locante, who just competed at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships, continued to add on to her impressive senior season by taking home the gold on both the 1-meter (267.25) and 3-meter (327.65) boards.
Ball State would go on to take the top two spots on the 3-meter board, as freshman Riley Bullock collected second place with a score of 257.25.
Ending her regular season freshman campaign on a high note, Ribeiro won the 200 free (1:50.62) and 500 free (4:58.35). Ribeiro's time in the 200 free is the fourth-fastest time in program history.
Junior Alex Bader and freshman Laura Wright teamed up to each collect a second and third place in the breaststroke events.
