Volleyball Opens NCAA Championship Play Friday vs. Michigan

MUNCIE, Ind. - - During the annual NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship selection show Sunday night, the Ball State women's volleyball team learned it will travel to Louisville, Kentucky, to take on Michigan in the opening round of the tournament.
The Mid-American Conference regular season and tournament champions, the Cardinals (29-3) enter Friday's 4 p.m. matchup versus the Wolverines (18-11) second among all 340 NCAA Division I women's volleyball programs with 29 wins.
In addition, BSU's 19-match winning streak its tied as the fourth-longest active streak nationally and is one shy of the program record.
Ball State will be making its 10th appearance in the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship, owning a 2-9 all-time record in the event. The Cardinals last appearance came in 2019 when it suffered a 3-0 setback at fifth-seeded Nebraska.
Ball State's tournament wins came at Illinois in 1994 and at home over Loyola Chicago in 1995.
The winner of Friday's match will advance to the second round to face either top-seeded Louisville (28-0) or UIC (20-11). The second round contest is currently scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 4).
