In the 23rd minute, Tatiana Mason sent a ball on target, but was unable to find the back of the net. The Broncos responded with a shot on net in the 25th minute but DeRuvo made another save.
At the 28th-minute mark, Mason notched her second shot on net, but was unable to beat the WMU keeper.
The Broncos got on the scoreboard at the 34-minute mark when Morgan Otteson found the back of the net. Two minutes before the end of the first half, Jenna Blackburn extended the WMU lead with a goal.
Nicky Potts recorded the second half's first shot on goal at the 47th minute but was unable to get the Cardinals on the board. In the 52nd minute, Mason posted her third shot on target but was kept out by the WMU goalie.

Emily Simmons put a last-second shot on goal with just 10 seconds left on the clock but was unable to find the back of the net.
The Cardinals return to the friendly confines of the Briner Sports Complex on Sunday, Oct. 24. Fans be sure to get to the match early as we will recognize and celebrate 11 seniors for Senior Day prior to first touch. Kickoff with Northern Illinois is scheduled for 2 p.m.
From the Coach – Head Coach Josh Rife
"I'm always proud of the group, with their effort and how they play. At the end of the day, the things that matter are goals scored and goals conceded, and we haven't done enough at either end. As a coach, I have to look and find ways to help us be better in critical moments."
