Wielonski Named MAC West Division Setter of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - For her part in leading the Ball State women's volleyball team to a two-match sweep of Northern Illinois last weekend, Megan Wielonski has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Setter of the Week.
Wielonski, who earns the honor for the first time in her young career, averaged 11.00 assists per set and led the Cardinals offense to a .311 attack percentage last weekend. The effort helped BSU extend its current winning streak to seven matches and take over the top spot in the MAC West Division standings.
In Friday's sweep of the Huskies, she dished out 32 assists and led the offense to a .321 attacking mark. She also scored a kill, tallied three digs, and earned a pair of blocks.
In round two Saturday, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native tallied 34 assists and led the offense to a .302 hitting percentage. She also smashed three kills, collected nine digs and served up three aces.
Behind Wielonski's guidance, the Cardinals lead the MAC with a .265 attack percentage this season. BSU has hit at least .200 in 19 of its 20 matches, including three outings above .300.
Wielonski, who ranks fourth in the league and 45th among all NCAA Division I players with a 10.26 assists-per-set average, is also one of the nation's top servers. Her 34 aces, including a career-high seven versus Ohio (Sept. 30), are first in the conference and rank 16th nationwide.
Wielonski and the Ball State women's volleyball team return to action Tuesday, when they host Toledo for a 6:30 p.m. first serve at Worthen Arena.
The match will serve as Faculty Appreciation Night, with all Ball State faculty receiving free admission with a valid BSU ID. Faculty can register for their tickets by CLICKING HERE.
