Fifth-year WR had 143 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns at Western Michigan
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Ball State wide receiver Justin Hall was selected to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll following his performance in a win at Western Michigan, the Louisville Sports Commission announced Monday.
Hall racked up 143 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in a 45-20 win for the Cardinals Saturday afternoon.
The Douglasville, Ga. native had three catches for 49 yards and a touchdown, which was a 33-yard connection with quarterback Drew Plitt. Hall found pay dirt again in the fourth quarter with a five-yard rush. He added a nine-yard scamper earlier in the game.
Hall totaled 80 return yards on the day on three returns. His 30-yard punt return is currently tied for the longest punt return by any MAC player.
After six weeks into the 2021 season, Hall is averaging 141.8 all-purpose yards per game, good for 11th-most in the country and first in the Mid-American Conference. Hall is second in the country in average all-purpose yards among players who have logged at least one yard through rushing, receiving, punt return and kickoff return.
The Louisville Sports Commission successfully launched the Paul Hornung Award in 2010 to honor its namesake and native son, and to promote outstanding performances by versatile college football players who often go unnoticed. Each week during the regular season, a panel of college football experts selects players for the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll based on performance. A national selection committee comprised of 17 sports journalists and former NFL stars votes for the Hornung Award finalists and the winner, with fan voting powered by Texas Roadhouse comprising the 18th vote.
