MUNCIE, Ind. – Supported by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Ball State head coaches, Ball State Athletics has launched the "Register, Chirp, Vote" initiative.
The initiative will provide education, direction and time for student-athletes to register appropriately in advance of the 2020 general election. In addition, an effort will be made to limit practices and competitions on Election Day, Nov. 3, 2020.
Other actions the Ball State community will see surrounding this initiative will be adding Election Day to all sports schedules online at BallStateSports.com as well as various social media graphics and print collateral such as schedule cards and posters. Furthermore, the athletic department will work to partner with campus, student and community organizations to expand voter registration and voting awareness.
"Voting in local and national elections – and working to create fair elections – are critical ways in which the voices of our student-athletes can be heard," said athletic director, Beth Goetz. "This initiative is just one action step we can take in response to the ongoing acts of racial injustice, and we are committed to supporting these efforts across our community."
