Seven Gymnasts Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

Seven Ball State gymnastics have earned Academic All-MAC honors for 2020, as announced by the league office. All three of the team's seniors - Rachel Benoit, Maddie MacDonald and Bri Slonim - made the list along with Arden Hudson, Sandra Elsadek, Stefanie Schweikert and Lauren Volpe.Â
Benoit and MacDonald finish their career as three-time academic all-league performers, while Slonim earned the honor twice. Only injuries in 2019 kept her from being a three-time honoree. Hudson, the team leader on balance beam this year, is on the list for the second time. Sophomores Elsadek, Schweikert and Volpe are honored in their first year of eligibility. Athletes must be in their second year at an institution and have at least a 3.20 GPA for academic all-league consideration.
The Cardinals enjoyed a very successful season on the competition floor and in the classroom. Ball State went 11-4 in head-to-head meet scoring and broke the school record for points in a meet three different times. In the classroom, 16 different Cardinals recorded a 3.20 GPA or better during the Fall 2019 semester.
A total of 57 student-athletes representing the seven MAC gymnastics programs earned Academic All-MAC honors in 2020. Below is the entire list of honored athletes.
