Another Award For Floor Standout Goyco

Another week, another MAC Specialist of the Week honor for Claudia Goyco. The junior, who excels on floor exercise for Ball State gymnastics, had a career-best score last week and helped the Cardinals to a school record.
Goyco recorded a 9.925 floor score in a road meet last Sunday, reaching a personal best. She has scored 9.9000 or better four times and a 9.800 or better on floor in every meet this season.
Her floor performance helped the Cardinals to reach a 195.800 score, the best for a single meet in school history. The previous high was 195.750 - which was set at home on Feb. 16.
Goyco, from Buford, Georgia, is tied for the conference lead in National Qualifying Score (9.885) and is second in the conference in average score on floor (9.867). She has been specialist of the week in the conference four times this season, including three weeks in a row.
Ball State competes at home for the final time this season when it hosts North Carolina Sunday, March 8 at 1 p.m. The Cardinals are 10-4 in head-to-head matchups and have set the single-meet scoring record twice in the last month.Â
