Tahjai Teague Named to NABC All-District First Team
March 23, 2020 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State's Tahjai Teague was named to the All-District 14 First Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). District 14 is composed of Mid-American Conference schools.
Teague, who was previously named to the All-MAC First Team and the MAC All-Defensive Team, is the first Ball State player named to the NABC All-District First Team since Jarrod Jones in 2012.
The fifth-year senior from Indianapolis led Ball State in scoring (14.4 ppg), rebounding (9.1 rpg), blocks (1.5 bpg), steals (1.2 spg) and field goal percentage (.506). He ranked among the league leaders in each of those categories, averaged a double-double through much of conference play and led the league in blocks in MAC games.
Teague, who was named the MAC West Division Player of the Week a school-record six times this season, wrapped up his career among the top 10 in Ball State history in points (1,518, 10th), rebounds (861, 4th), blocks (134, 3rd) and steals (159, 7th). Bonzi Wells is the only other BSU player to rank among the top 10 in each of those categories.
Teague had 12 double-doubles on the season and keyed a team effort that led the MAC in scoring defense, field goal percentage defense and 3-point defense in conference play.
He helped the Cardinals to a share of the MAC West Division championship and the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament before the postseason was canceled because of the COVID-19 outbreak. BSU won four of its final five games to finish at 18-13 overall (11-7 MAC).
