Ball State’s Danny Pinter Looking to Make Some Noise at the NFL Combine
February 27, 2020 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – Former Ball State football offensive lineman Danny Pinter is one of two Mid-American Conference football players in attendance at this week's NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
Pinter will hit the bench press Thursday and then take to the field for on-field workouts Friday. The NFL Network will have live coverage of the special teams players, offensive linemen and running backs at the combine Friday afternoon from 4 to 11 p.m.
Drills at the NFL Combine include the 40-yard dash, 225-pound bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, three-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle. Pinter's complete NFL Combine bio can be found here. His combine results will be posted here.
Pinter, hailing from South Bend, Indiana, anchored Ball State's offensive line at right tackle the last two years after making the transition from tight end following his sophomore campaign. He was one of four Cardinals to earn first team All-Mid-American Conference honors in 2019 and the first BSU offensive lineman to earn first team all-league accolades since 2013. He went on to showcase his skills against other NFL hopefuls at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in Pasadena, California, in mid-January.
Several Cardinals have been invited to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine over the last 10 years. Those players include defensive end Anthony Winbush (2018), running back Jahwan Edwards (2015), quarterback Keith Wenning (2014), wide receiver Willie Snead (2014), defensive lineman Jonathan Newsome (2014) and punter Scott Kovanda (2013).
Robert Brewster was the most recent Ball State offensive lineman to be selected in the NFL Draft. The Dallas Cowboys selected Brewster in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. This year's draft is set for April 23-25 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ball State concluded the 2019 season 5-7 overall and 4-4 in the MAC. The Cardinals won the Bronze Stalk Trophy from Northern Illinois for the first time since 2008 and capped the year by knocking off league champion Miami for the Red Bird Rivalry Trophy, 41-27.
Ball State opens the 2020 season on Thursday, Sept. 3 with a home game against Maine.
