
Agustsdottir Named MAC West Division Player & Scholar Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Ball State sophomore forward Thelma Dis Agustsdottir (Keflavik, Iceland) has earned Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career and was also awarded the MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week with a 3.5 grade point average, majoring in actuarial science.
Agustsdottir averaged 17.0 points per contest in MAC action last week while shooting 68 percent from the field (13-of-19) and 70 percent from the 3-point line (7-of-10). She scored a career-high 26 points Saturday at Buffalo, helping the Cardinals to a 69-58 victory.
Agustsdottir shot a staggering 76 percent from the field (10-of-13) and 85 percent from behind the arc (6-of-7) against the Bulls. She also pulled down seven rebounds and handed out two assists, as the Cardinals extended their winning streak to four games.
Agustsdottir opened the week helping Ball State take down MAC West Division rival Toledo in Savage Arena, scoring eight points and making some crucial defensive plays to propel the Cardinals past the Rockets.
The Ball State women's basketball team will battle Northern Illinois at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Worthen Arena. The Cardinals are a perfect 6-0 at home in conference action this season.
