
Women's Tennis Defeats Findlay At Home, 6-1

The Cardinals extend their win streak to four
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Cardinals are playing three matches in three days but it doesn't seem to phase them. Ball State won again today, posting a 6-1 defeat over Findlay Saturday afternoon at the Muncie Northwest YMCA. With the win, Ball State improves to 5-1 on the season while the Oilers fall to 2-3 overall.
Ball State took the early 1-0 advantage over Findlay after registering doubles victories on courts three and one, respectively. The score was 4-1 at both positions deep into doubles action. Ball State's duo of Jessica Braun and Emma Peeler were the first match off the court defeating the Oilers Eliza Kirov and Kayley Gimbel, 6-1. Victoria Sec and Amy Kaplan quickly followed in their footsteps after posting a 6-1 victory over Laiying Alvarado and Samantha Sweet at the No. 1 match.
Livia Lukacs quickly won her match at No. 4 singles after only giving up one game to Kirov, 6-1, 6-0. Peeler took her first set 6-0 on the top court against Laiying Alvarado and then the second frame 6-3 to push the Cardinals lead over the Oilers to 3-0. Ball State newcomer Emily Desai beat Madison Arquette at position five to clinch match point for Ball State.
Braun also breezed through her competition versus Samantha Sweet registering a 6-2, 6-3 defeat at the No. 4 slot to make it a 5-0 match for the Cardinals. Sec followed with a straight set win at the No. 6 slot against Cristina Nieto for the Cardinals sixth point of the day.
The Ball State women's tennis team will close out its three-match weekend at home against Oakland University Sunday at the Muncie Northwest YMCA Tennis Center. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
