MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State women's volleyball head coach Kelli Miller Phillips announced she will have one more new addition to "The Nest" next season, as standout defensive specialist Kendall Seimet will join the program in the fall of 2021.
Seimet joins setter Megan Wielonski who signed on to join the Cardinals at the beginning of the early signing period.
"It's my pleasure to announce that Kendall will be joining the Cardinals next fall," Phillips said. "She's a backcourt player who pays attention to detail, loves to learn and compete, and is always looking for ways to push herself to be better. We take great pride in our ball control training at BSU, so I believe she fits perfectly into our program's culture."
A three-year letterwinner in volleyball at Clay High School for coach Carrie Wagner, Seimet earned all-conference honors all three seasons. In addition, she garnered All-District and All-Toledo Blade honors as both a junior and senior.
"Kendall has very natural instincts when it comes to reading on defense, as well as a fast first step and great touch on the ball," Phillips continued. "She's a player who impressed our staff with her consistency and competitiveness every time we saw her on the court. I can't wait for Kendall to join us next fall!"
Seimet finished her high school career for the Eagles with 853 digs, 71 service aces and 154 assists. This past season, she was credited with 303 digs, 19 aces and 60 assists and served at the team's captain. As a junior, she registered 280 digs, 34 service aces and 41 assists. In her first full-time season on the varsity squad, she earned 265 digs, 18 aces and 52 assists as a sophomore. Seimet also saw limited action on the varsity squad as a freshman, playing in eight sets and collecting five digs and an assist.
"I chose Ball State because the first time I went to Worthern Arena the atmosphere was so competitive and I knew that was where and who I wanted to play with," Seimet said. "They have an amazing coaching staff and are in a great conference that's not too far from home. I can't wait to be a Cardinal and a part of such a phenomenal program!"
In addition to her high school career, Seimet played 10 years of club volleyball including the past two seasons for the Toledo Volleyball Club. She helped guide her team to a third-place finish at the AAU Nationals in 2018.
A member of the honor roll throughout her academic career at Clay, Seimet plans to study chemistry at Ball State.
