Huntley, Martin Earn Top Weekly MAC Honors

Leading rusher, leading tackler from win over EMU recognized
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State claimed both the MAC West Division offensive and defensive player of the week awards for week two, with running back Caleb Huntley and inside linebacker Brandon Martin earning recognition.

Huntley, a senior from Atlanta, Georgia, ran for a career-high 204 yards and matched his career-best with three touchdowns in Ball State's 38-31 victory over Eastern Michigan. He scored the game-winning touchdown on a 1-yard plunge with 6 seconds left.Â

Huntley carried the ball 34 times, one shy of his career high. He surpassed the 100-yard mark for the sixth straight game, tying a Ball State record, and became the first BSU player to top 200 yards since 2016. Through two games, Huntley leads the MAC in both rushing average (167) and touchdowns (5).

Martin, a redshirt junior from Indianapolis, registered a career-high 15 tackles, including eight solo stops, in the win at Scheumann Stadium. It was the second game back for Martin who sustained a season-ending injury in last year's season opener. Through two games, he leads the MAC in solo tackles (14) and ranks second in total tackles (26).

Ball State returns to action Wednesday, hosting Northern Illinois in the Battle for the Bronze Stalk. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPNews and the Ball State Radio Network at 104.1 WLBC.
