November 11, 2020 | Women's Volleyball
MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State women's volleyball head coach Kelli Miller Phillips announced today the signing of standout setter Megan Wielonski to a National Letter of Intent to join the program in the fall of 2021.
"We are thrilled to add Megan to the Cardinal family," Phillips said. "She has a lot of championship experience from her club and high school teams and is ready to bring that competitive attitude and success to our program. She's a big time setter that locates the ball with precision and is able to get the ball to any hitter at any time. Her volleyball IQ is very high and will allow her to be ready to compete from the moment she arrives to campus."
No stranger to success on the court, Wielonski capped her high school career by guiding Mount Notre Dame to the 2020 Ohio High School Athletics Association Division I State Championship title. After falling in the semifinals last season, Wielonski and the Cougars battled their way to the title this season.
"I chose Ball State because I developed an amazing relationship with the coaching staff throughout the recruiting process," Wielonski said. "I also felt that it was a very welcoming environment and I could see myself fitting in and having a great academic and athletic experience here. I love that the program strives for excellence and I can't wait to be a part of this competitive and exceptional program."
A three-year letterwinner at the varsity level, Wielonski has led the Girls Greater Catholic League in assists in each of the last three seasons. She finished her career with 2,958 assists, 471 digs, 156 aces and 150 kills.
For her strong play, which includes leading Mount Notre Dame to a 68-12 record as the team's setter for the past three years, Wielonski was named to the 2020 AVCA Under Armor All-American Watch List. A two-time All-Ohio selection, including earning second team honors this season, Wielonski is also a two-time All-District First Team honoree and a two-time Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore and junior.
In addition to her high school career, Wielonski has played seven seasons for the Elevation Volleyball Club. A 2019 PrepVolleyball.com 16s Club All-American, she was also named to the 2019 USAV 16s All-Tournament Team after helping her squad finish fifth in the 16U national division. Her team also finished third overall in the open division at the 2019 16U Kansas City Triple Crown.
A four-year member of the honor roll at Mount Notre Dame, Wielonski plans to study business at Ball State University.
