#CardinalCamp19: Five Questions With … OL Danny Pinter
August 07, 2019 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – Danny Pinter is going through his fifth preseason camp with the Ball State football team. The tight end turned offensive tackle took a few minutes after practice Tuesday afternoon to share his thoughts about life at preseason camp.
--What's the best thing and the most challenging aspect of preseason camp?
DP: I'd say the most challenging aspect is being consistent day in and day out, especially in your energy and effort. I think it's on us as seniors to keep everyone's energy up every single day. I really enjoy going through the grind of camp with my teammates. You come home dead tired every night knowing that you have to get up and do it again. It's something you have to embrace to excel at it.
--Which position is harder on you during camp, tight end or offensive line?
DP: (Smiling) They are both hard in their own ways. In terms of dealing with the heat during camp, tight end is probably harder. You get into the team segments of practice and running all of those routes certainly takes its toll on you.
--If you could switch positions for one day in camp, what position would you want to play?
DP: If I had to play defense, I'd play safety. I think that it would be fun to be a ball hawk. If offense, I'd play quarterback so I could run the show.
--What's your favorite memory from your years going through camp?
DP: Today in team meetings to keep the young guys motivated, [the coaches] showed clips of us as freshmen. I just got ran over on a play. Just that whole progression is cool and doing it with everyone in your class. That's not a specific memory, but just an overall piece. Another moment came last year. We do entertainment at night and last year Joseph Boggs let us wax his eyebrows off. We still talk about that.

--What's changed the most for you personally from your freshman year in 2015 to now?
DP: Obviously it comes with experience, but confidence level being out here and knowledge of the game because I've taken so many more reps. Just look at my freshman year until now. I'm way more comfortable and confident which lets me play better.
The Cardinals play host to Indiana at Lucas Oil Stadium in their season opener on Saturday, Aug. 31. The last time the two teams played at LOS in 2011, Ball State came away with a 27-20 victory. Click here to purchase tickets.
