Regan Lewis Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State senior high jumper Regan Lewis was named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District 5 Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team on Tuesday (May 28) as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A first-time academic all-district honoree, Lewis finished her collegiate career as a four-time Mid-American Conference high jump champion after winning her fourth straight title during the 2018-19 indoor season.

Lewis, who finished fourth at the 2019 MAC Outdoor Championships, earned Second Team All-America honors as a junior after placing 10th in the high jump at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

A nursing major with a 3.78 grade-point average, Lewis holds the program record in the indoor high jump at 1.81m, while her career-best outdoor leap of 1.82m is second in program history.

A five-time career Academic All-MAC selection and a four-time MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete award winner, Lewis was named both the Female Athlete of the Year and the Female Outstanding Senior at Ball State's "The Chirpies" awards this spring.

She also won the ceremony's Play of the Year for her effort in winning her fourth consecutive MAC high jump title in a thrilling jump off at the league's 2019 indoor championships.

The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Lewis will now advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.

Ball State competes in District 5 which is made up of Division I schools from the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
