Ball State Gymnastics Adds Teter, Waldo
April 29, 2019 | Gymnastics
Ball State gymnastics has added two more athletes to the program. Junior Olympics standouts Megan Teter and Taylor Waldo will compete for Ball State beginning in the fall of 2019.
Â
Teter, a native of Copley, Ohio, competed for 14 years at Gym World in Ohio. She placed 7th in all-around at the 2017 Junior Olympics Regional and was 3rd in bars at the Juniors Olympics National Championship that year. Teter earned the club's Coaches Award for four straight years (2016-19).
Â
"I am very excited about adding Megan to our Cardinal Family. She is a genuinely compassionate and dedicated leader and a brilliant young lady who I believe will truly take flight as a collegiate student-athlete," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "While being competitive by nature, she is emotionally intelligent and consistently is able to see the big picture. I see her being a fabulous addition to the culture of our program and to make an immediate impact on bars while bringing depth to the team on the other events."

"After visiting Ball State for a gymnastics camp, I immediately fell in love," Teter said. "When the coaches offered me a spot on the team, I knew I wanted to go to Ball State because of the beautiful campus and the personality of the team."
Â
Waldo is from Stacy, Minnesota, where she competed for Flyaways Gymnastics for 14 years. She was a 7-time regional qualifier and 5-time national qualifier.
Â
"I am looking forward to working with Taylor," Saleem said. "She is a smart, hard-working and determined young lady that has a great career ahead of her. Taylor's down-to-Earth bubbly personality that will blend in nicely with our young team. I look for her to compete for spots on beam and floor as a freshman because of her unique and difficult skills. Her high-level competition experience at JO will be a great addition for us."
Â
"I chose Ball State because of the family atmosphere. Everyone makes you feel at home," Waldo said. "I love the school, team, location and coaches."

Teter and Waldo will be freshmen in 2019-20 alongside other incoming Cardinals Alivia Ostendorf, Grace Evans and Megan Phillips.
Â
Ten gymnasts who competed this season and four of the team's five top scorers are scheduled to return next season for BSU. The Cardinals won 10 meets in 2019 and sent three gymnasts to a NCAA Regional.
