Harris’ MAC Auto Mark Leads T&F on Day 1 in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - Redshirt sophomore sprinter Jasmine Harris earned her second Mid-American Conference automatic qualifying mark of the outdoor season to lead a solid effort for the Ball State Track & Field team on the opening day of the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational hosted by Louisville.
In her fifth run at the 100m hurdles this season, Harris clocked in at 13.91 to become the second Ball State student-athlete to lock up her spot in the MAC Outdoor Championships in the event, joining senior Jazmin Smith.
Harris also qualified for Saturday's finals in the 100m hurdles, and will be joined by sophomore Anasja Troutman who clocked a personal-best of 14.24 to earn the last finals spot.
In the 100m dash, junior Bryeana Byrdsong improved on her MAC auto mark for the second straight weekend, turning in the sixth-fastest prelim time at 11.73 to qualify for Saturday's finals in the event.
The Cardinals also received a pair of strong performances in the throws, with junior Kelsey Walters taking third in the shot put at 14.69m and junior Megan Graves placing eighth in the hammer with a career-best distance of 49.01m.
Ball State closes competition in the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational Saturday with student-athletes entered in 13 events.
