Men's Tennis Falls To Buffalo On The Road In MAC Action

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Ball State men's tennis team (10-13, 1-5 MAC) suffered a 6-1 loss in Mid-American Conference action Friday afternoon against Buffalo (11-8, 6-1 MAC).
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Marko and Nemanja Guzina started the Cardinals off right today in doubles play against the Bulls. The twosome would be the first team off the court after posting a 6-2 win over UB's Hao Sheng Koay and Ethan Nitttolo. After that, Buffalo beat Thibault de Negri and Tom Carney at the No. 2 position by a score of 6-3 and then went on to take the early point from BSU after also taking court three from the Cardinals.
De Negri lost first in singles action at the No. 3 spot, falling to Shen Koay, 6-1, 6-4. Senior Conner Andersen, who was coming off of an impressive straight set win over Western Michigan last weekend, suffered a 6-4, 6-1 loss to UB's No. 5 player, Matthew Johnson.
The match was then decided after Nemanja Guzina got beat 6-1, 6-1 by Vilhelm Bridell on court two. The two most competitive singles matches came at the No. 2 and No. 4 spots for the Cardinals, respectively. Marko Guzina lost his match today in a second set tiebreaker to Nitttolo at the No. 2 slot and sophomore Chris Adams came up with a straight set, 6-3, 7-5 win over Nickolas Frisk.
The Ball State men's tennis team will close out its Mid-American Conference regular season action Sunday at Binghamton. First serve is at 11 a.m. After that, the Cardinals will compete in the quarterfinals at the MAC Tournament which will be hosted by Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Friday, April 19.
