
Menzione, Schweikert Named Second Team All-MAC

Senior and freshman standouts earn all-league honors
CLEVELAND - Ball State gymnastics standouts Kaitlyn Menzione and Stefanie Schweikert have been named second team all-conference for the 2019 season. The Mid-American Conference made the announcement leading up to the conference meet to be held Saturday, March 23.
"I'm very excited that Menz and Stef are representing Ball State on the All-MAC team," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "These two ladies have worked very hard this season. They have been consistent and focused all year and I'm very proud of what they've accomplished."
Menzione and Schweikert earned their conference awards by having regional qualifying scores (RQS) in the top 3 of the conference rankings.
At the end of the regular season, Menzione, a senior from Downers Grove, Illinois, stood third in the MAC in floor exercise with a 9.885 RQS. She had a career-best 9.925 against Northern Illinois on Feb. 17 and has posted five floor routines at 9.900 or better. Menzione, also a strong contributor on balance beam, has moved into the top 15 in scoring in Ball State history .
Schweikert, a freshman from Cincinnati, came on strong this season and is the ranked No. 2 in the MAC on vault. Her vault RQS is 9.840 and she's been the leader in what has been a strong point for the Cardinals all season. She owns nine scores of 9.750 or better on vault, including a career-best of 9.875 which she scored twice this season.
Menzione, Schweikert and Ball State will be in action this weekend at the MAC Gymnastics Championships Saturday, March 23 at 3 p.m. ET (2 local). Northern Illinois is the host. Tickets start at $5 and are free to MAC school students. Parking is $5. CLICK HERE to buy tickets.
