Men's Tennis Competes At No. 11 Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team (1-3) competed at No. 11 Notre Dame (8-1) Friday night at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. The Cardinals fell to the nationally ranked Fighting Irish by a score of 7-0.
Ball State plays one of the toughest non-conference spring schedules in the Mid-American Conference, having already faced two Big Ten teams earlier this season, Indiana and Michigan State. Recently the Cardinals just added Northwestern to their schedule and will face the Wildcats next Sunday at 2 p.m. in Evanston, Ill.
Notre Dame took the doubles point from Ball State after posting 6-2 wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. But the Cardinals No. 2 duo, Danilo Kovacevic and Tom Carney made it a close contest against Notre Dame's Paul Gota and Nathan Griffin but the match went unfinished with a 4-3 score.
In singles play, Notre Dame took all six courts from the Cardinals. At the top court, Nemanja Guzina took the first set 6-4 from Guillermo Cabera. Nemanja Guzina then dropped the next two frames for the loss. Bryce Bonin almost took a set from Daniel Ray on court six but fell 7-6.
The Ball State men's tennis team continue spring action when it plays at Wright State (Feb. 16) at 2:30 p.m. and then at Northwestern (Feb. 17).
