October 07, 2019 | Football
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ball State running back Caleb Huntley and kicker Ryan Rimmler were honored by the Mid-American Conference Monday following their performances in Ball State's 27-20 road win over Northern Illinois this past weekend. Huntley was named the MAC West Division Co-Offensive Player of the Week while Rimmler was tabbed the MAC West Division Special Teams Player of the Week.
Huntley, a junior from Atlanta, Georgia, piled up a season-high 157 rushing yards to help the Cardinals knock off NIU for the first time since 2008. He scored twice including the go-ahead, 45-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals leaned on him heavily in the second half as he carried the ball a career-high 35 times, nine more than his previous personal best.
Rimmler set a personal high by hitting four field goals – 24, 25, 42 and 22 yards – on a wet and rainy day in DeKalb. His 42-yarder in the third quarter tied the game at 17-all. His final field goal gave Ball State a 10-point lead with seven minutes remaining. The Heidelberg, Germany, native is the first Cardinal to make at least four field goals in a game since Scott Secor tallied five field goals against Akron on Oct. 25, 2014.
The Cardinals (2-3, 1-0 MAC) are on the road again this Saturday, Oct. 12, at Eastern Michigan. Game time on ESPN+ is set for 2 p.m.
