Teague Shares MAC West Honor for Second Time in Three Weeks
January 07, 2019 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. -- For the second time in three weeks, Ball State's Tahjai Teague has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Co-Player of the Week.
The junior forward from Indianapolis led Ball State to a decisive road win in Friday's MAC opener at Toledo, snapping the Rockets' 10-game winning streak. He shares this week's honor with Lacey James of Northern Illinois.
Teague notched his second double-double of the year with 20 points and 12 rebounds in Ball State's 79-64 victory. He went 8-for-12 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range, matching his career high for 3's, as the Cardinals handed the Rockets just their second loss of the season.
Teague also turned in an impressive defensive performance, guarding multiple positions, logging three steals and helping BSU hold Toledo nearly 20 points below its scoring average on just 36 percent shooting.
Teague has now scored double figures in 10 straight games. The Cardinals are 9-1 during that stretch and have risen to No. 49 nationally in the NCAA's NET rankings.
Ball State continues MAC play at home Tuesday night against MAC West Division preseason favorite Eastern Michigan. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Worthen Arena.
