Cardinals’ opening-round score matched team’s lowest in five years
YORKTOWN, Ind. -- Led by three players among the top 10, the Ball State women's golf team holds the No. 2 spot on the leaderboard after Monday's opening 36 holes at the Cardinal Classic.
Ball State began its home tournament with a round of 293 (+5) in the morning, matching its best 18-hole mark over the past five seasons. The Cardinals followed with a 301 in the afternoon round at The Players Club to finish the day at 594 (+18).
Reigning NCAA Division II national champion UIndy (-2) leads the tournament with one round left to play. Ball State's Liz Kim, Manon Tounalom and Morgan Lewis find themselves in the top 10, all within two shots of each other.
Kim carded back-to-back rounds of 73 and sits in seventh place at 2 over par. Tounalom is one shot behind her in a tie for eighth, and Lewis is one more shot back in a tie for 10th.
