Drey Jameson Honored as MAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
April 09, 2018 | Baseball
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Freshman Drey Jameson was named the Mid-American Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week the league announced today. This was the second time this season a Ball State pitcher has come away with this honor.
Jameson helped the Cardinals secure the series finale 5-0 win at Eastern Michigan on Sunday. The righty tossed Ball State's first complete game shutout since BJ Butler blanked Dayton in a 6-0 win on March 18, 2017. He reached double-digit strikeouts for the first time in his collegiate career and retired 12 consecutive batters in the middle of the game.
The native of Greenfield, Indiana, has now gone 16 consecutive innings without allowing a run. In his previous start, Jameson held Central Michigan scoreless in 6.0 innings of work while striking out eight batters. In his three MAC starts, Jameson is 1-0 with a 0.95 ERA while holding league opponents to a .174 batting average.
Western Michigan's Connor Smith and Miami's Parker Massman shared MAC Player of the Week accolades.
Ball State (15-15, 4-5 MAC) is back in action tomorrow at Purdue. The Cardinals then host league co-leader Miami this coming weekend at First Merchants Ballpark Complex.
