March 25, 2018 | Women's Tennis
PERRYSBURG, Ohio - The Ball State women's tennis team (7-7, 0-2 MAC) dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 loss at Bowling Green (10-5. 2-0 MAC) Sunday afternoon in Mid-American Conference action.
The Cardinals got off to a strong start by taking the doubles point from the Falcons. Peyton Gollhofer and Victoria Sec paired up on court three for a 6-1 take down over Marta Bettinelli and Vanesa Pardo. But it was the No. 2 doubles tandem of Audrey Berger and Rebecca Herrington that would clinch the point. Berger and Herrington defeated Polina Radeva and Ayumi Sasaki, 7-6 (5).
The match then became a tight affair in singles play. Herrington and Berger each defeated their respective opponents both in three set thrillers. Berger won 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 and Herrington finished Pardo off 5-1, 3-6, 6-2. Despite the Cardinals efforts, the Falcons would take points from Ball State on the remaining four courts to seal the victory for BGSU.
