Cory Connolly Tabbed as Ball State Football’s New Outside Linebackers Coach
March 02, 2018 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State football head coach Mike Neu announced that Cory Connolly has moved into the newly created role of outside linebackers coach. Connolly spent the last three years as a graduate assistant coach for the Cardinals.
"Cory has proven his ability to coach at the FBS level during his time as a graduate assistant with Ball State football over the past three seasons," Neu said. "His attention to detail, work ethic and passion for teaching young men makes him a perfect fit with our players and staff. He is exactly who you are looking for when you are hiring a young up-and-coming coach."
Connolly worked alongside assistant coach Keith McKenzie with the defensive linemen in 2017. The Cardinals were led by first team all-league honoree Anthony Winbush, who finished the season ranked fourth nationally in sacks (11.5).
As a football player, Connolly played defensive end and was a three-year team captain for Quincy University. He earned his bachelor's degree in 2013.
Coach Neu also announced two title changes to current assistant coaches. Johnny Curtis is now the run game coordinator/inside linebackers coach and Kevin Lynch takes on the running backs coach/recruiting coordinator role.
Ball State returns to the football field for spring practice beginning Thursday, March 15. The spring season will wrap up with the annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 14 at 11 a.m.
