Sophomore forward posted double doubles as Cardinals won twice
MUNCIE, Ind. -- After leading the Ball State men's basketball team to two wins last week with a pair of double-doubles, Tahjai Teague was named the College Sports Madness Player of the Week for the Mid-American Conference.
Â
Teague, a redshirt sophomore from Indianapolis, averaged 18.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game last week. The forward scored 21 points and pulled down 10 boards Tuesday in the Cardinals' 90-77 victory at Akron. He also added three assists and a pair of steals to lead BSU to its first win in Akron in 17 years.
Â
Teague then went for 16 points and 12 rebounds Saturday in Ball State's 99-71 victory over Toledo. His fifth double-double in the past seven games guided the Cardinals to a sweep of the season series from a Toledo team that entered the weekend tied for the overall MAC lead.
Â
Teague's performance helped Ball State take a firm hold of the No. 3 position in the race for a top-4 MAC Tournament seed. The Cardinals have won six of their past seven games, with Teague averaging 16.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game during that stretch.
Â
Ball State closes out its regular season home schedule this week with a pair of games, hosting Northern Illinois at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Western Michigan at 9 p.m. Friday. The WMU game, televised nationally on ESPN2, will serve as the Cardinals' annual #MuncieOut game and Senior Night.
