
Women's Tennis Earns 6-1 Win Over Valparaiso

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team improved to 4-2 on the season with its 6-1 take down over Valparaiso (3-4) Saturday evening in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
The Cardinals took all three doubles matches from the Crusaders. First off the court was Julia Sbircea and Isabelle Dohanics after defeating Claire Czerwonka and Jalena Vujanic at the No. 1 spot by a score of 6-2. On court three, Sarah Swiderski teammed up with fellow Cardinal Victoria Sec for a 6-3 take down over Meg Modesto and Jordan Kopfer to clinch the doubles point. Peyton Gollhofer and Lilya Hadab closed out doubles play with a 6-4 win over Dao Sysouvanh and Randi Wind at the No. 2 position.
Ball State took five of the six singles matches from Valparaiso. Rebecca Herrington pushed the Cardinals lead to 2-0 after her straight set win at the five spot over Wind, 6-1, 6-0. Audrey Berger registered Ball State's third point after not giving up a game in the first frame winning 6-0 and then taking the match 6-4 over Modesto on court three. Hadab then clinched the fourth point and the win for the Cardinals winning 6-1, 6-3 versus Halle Roach. Dohanics and Gollhofer rounded out the victories for Ball State, Gollhofer's was a three set thriller over Vujanic on court two.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues spring action at home Friday against University of Illinois-Chicago at 5 p.m. in the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
