Volleyball Places Nine on Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - Ball State women's volleyball tied for league-high honors with nine members of the program being named to the 2018 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team as announced Tuesday (Dec. 4) by the league office.
"I am very proud of our Academic All-MAC honorees," head coach Kelli Miller said. "We are always striving to be our best on and off the court, and it's great to see their hard work pay off."
Highlighting the Cardinals' list of honorees are three-time award winners Emily Holland, Jessica Lindsey and Lauren Schreiner.
Kate Avila, Ellie Dunn and Amber Seaman earn the honor for the second time in their careers, while Kia Holder, Anna Jensen and Sydnee VanBeek are first-time recipients.
Ball State finished the 2018 season with a 22-10 overall record, advanced to the semifinals of the MAC Tournament and earned an at-large bid to the National Invitational Volleyball Championships (NIVC). The Cardinals also won their second straight MAC West Division title with a 12-4 league record.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year players and junior college transfers are not eligible.
