November 19, 2018 | Football
CLEVELAND, Ohio – After leading the Ball State football team to a thrilling overtime win over Western Michigan, sophomore quarterback Drew Plitt has been named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week.
Plitt, a native of Loveland, Ohio, threw for a career-best three touchdown passes and 258 yards in BSU's 42-41 win over Western Michigan in front of a national TV audience on Nov. 13. With the game tied at 28 in the fourth quarter, Plitt set up the go-ahead touchdown with a 22-yard rush and later threw the game-winning, 2-yard score to Kyle Schrank in overtime. Western Michigan scored in the overtime, but the Cardinals stopped WMU's game-winning 2-point conversion to preserve the victory.
Plitt finished the night 21-for-26 and his completion percentage was the best for a Cardinal starting quarterback since 2013.
Other West Division honorees were Northern Illinois defensive end Josh Corcoran and Toledo kick returner Diontae Johnson.
The Cardinals conclude their 2018 season at Miami (Ohio) Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. Tuesday's season finale can be found on ESPN+ and on the radio at 104.1 FM WLBC.
