2018 Gymnastics Schedule
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State gymnastics team has set its schedule for the 2018 season. The Cardinals will host three meets in Worthen Arena and travel to eight schools during the regular season.
"Once again we are excited to compete against some of the best programs in the country," head coach Joanna Saleem stated. "We open the season against three top programs, Kentucky, George Washington, and NC State. I'm excited for the team to gain exposure to large crowds and exciting atmospheres as we prepare to open our Mid-American Conference slate at home with Kent State."Â
The season officially begins January 5 when the Cardinals travel to Kentucky's Rupp Arena for a quad meet against the Wildcats, Southeast Missouri, and George Washington. The following two weekends, Ball State travels to the Nation's Capitol for another quad meet (Jan. 14) and to Raleigh, NC, to compete against North Carolina State and William and Mary (Jan. 20).
On Jan. 28, the Cardinals host the season's first MAC opponent, Kent State.
After the team travels west to Denver, Colorado for its third quad meet (Feb. 3), the Cardinals return home to host Bowling Green (Feb. 11) for a MAC dual. The team will then travel to Iowa City, to compete against the Hawkeyes (Feb. 16).
Following the trip to Iowa, the Cardinals compete in MAC duals at Northern Illinois (Feb.25), vs Eastern Michigan (Mar. 4), at Western Michigan (Mar. 10), and at Central Michigan (Mar. 15).Â
The MAC Championships will be held in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on March 24.Â
"I'm looking forward to seeing the team compete this year," Saleem said. "We have a very competitive season ahead of us. I'm excited for the challenges that will prepare the team for the MAC Championships in March."
