
Third Annual Chirpies Event Bigger and Better Than Ever

MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State held its third annual student-athlete awards show, The Chirpies, Monday evening at Emens Auditorium to recognize outstanding accomplishments on and off the field spanning the previous year.
Organized by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and sponsored by the Ball State President's Office, the event was once again produced by Ball State Sports Link. The show was broadcast live on ESPN3.
BJ Butler of the baseball team served as the host for the evening. A red carpet event preceded the awards ceremony, which was hosted by men's volleyball player Lem Turner and field hockey player Michelle Shampton.
ESPN's Bob Holtzman, former Ball State quarterback and current New York Giants football player Keith Wenning, and WISH-TV sports director Anthony Calhoun made special appearances.
Three new awards were added this year – Team Manager of the Year, Men's Team of the Year and Women's Team of the Year.
The evening concluded with a free concert from rising recording artist Chase Bryant.
